Encourage Yourself
The story is revealed about David in I Samuel 30. Things had gone badly. While David and his men were gone to fight, the Amalekites had invaded the South and Ziklag, attacked Ziglag and burned it to the ground. The women and children had been captured and taken away. The story goes on to say that David and the people with him lifted up their voices and wept, until they had no more power to weep.
David was greatly distressed. It looked bad as the people even spoke of stoning him. But guess what David did? In verse 6 we see that David strengthened and encouraged himself in the LORD his God. Instead of caving and quitting, David prayed and asked the Lord what to do.
God answered telling him to pursue, overtake, and recover all. And he did.
We too can learn this mighty victory habit of encouraging ourselves in the Lord. We likely won’t feel like it, but this is where victory comes. Reasearch shows that the voice we believe the most is our own voice.
One way I encourage myself and our Fabufit Team is by naming each new month. As I begin this month of February, I give it the name of “Famous, Fresh, and Flourishing February.” This comes from Psalm 92:14. Each time I think of February, I declare I am fresh and flourishing. It goes on to say “You will still bear fruit in old age.” I don’t think of myself as old at all but I declare this for the future.
This is our Championship Year
